Obituary
Akeera passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 after a long battle with osteosarcoma. She was 27 years old.
Akeera was born February 26, 1996 in Newport News, VA to parents Jarra Savadge and Steven Tynes. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to Annapolis, Maryland. There, she spent her first three years of high school at Ft. Meade High before graduating from Glen Burnie High in 2015. After high school, Akeera participated in Job Corps of America to become an electrician. While in the process of preparing to join the military, she discovered she had osteosarcoma. This cancer diagnosis meant she could not enlist, so she enrolled in Anne Arundel Community College where she studied media production.
One of the happiest moments for Akeera was when she met the love of her life, Léwa May in 2021. Akeera and Léwa were married February 28, 2022.
Akeera, with her beautiful smile, was always the life of the party. She loved fashion and shoes, often going against the latest trends and staying true to her own personal style. She was a big gamer and you would often find her playing her favorite game, Apex. Akeera loved the outdoors, she took her dogs to the beach, went on hikes and she and her mom spent countless hours fishing together. One of Akeera’s happiest moments was in 2019, when her doctors informed her she was cancer-free and they cleared her to travel to New Orleans for Mardi Gras - where she had the time of her life.
Through her battle with cancer, Akeera gained a bonus family of aunts, uncles and siblings - her Osteosarcoma family. They were like a second family who had a special understanding of the unique journey they were on together. Akeera was preceded in death by two of her osteosarcoma brothers, who she missed dearly.
Akeera will be forever missed. She used the power of her short life to leave an indelible legacy of love on her family, friends, and everyone she ever met.
Akeera is survived by her spouse Lewa Savadge, her loving and devoted parents, Jarra Savadge and Steven Tynes; three brothers, Deonte Savadge-Tynes of Tacoma WA, Keonte Savadge (Lydia) of Sacramento CA, and Steven Tynes of Newport News Va.; one sister Shakira Carter of Newport News VA, and her dearest stepmom Erica Brinson of Hampton Va. Akeera was also able to meet for the first time before her passing, her one and only nephew, Remy Savadge of Sacramento CA. She is also survived by a very special cousin, Tevin Williams of Newport News, Va. who was raised as her brother and two very special cousins, Priya and Shanta Ramson of Bowie, Md, who spent countless days, nights, and FaceTime calls with Akeera, along with a host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends too numerous to name.
