Allan “St. Johnn” Blondell II passed on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, following complications from an outpatient procedure. He was 43. St. Johnn was born to Allan and Helena (Duhart) Blondell on January 15, 1978 in Columbia, Maryland. He was an only child, but grew up with close friends who were like his brothers. He attended University of Maryland, Baltimore County and received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and minor in Education. In 2017, his Master of Fine Arts was conferred from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. St. Johnn’s passion for the fine arts—especially photography—led to his career as a high school art teacher. He began at Ole Mill Senior High School, South River High School, MacAuthur Middle School, and then for the last three years at Overlea High School. His students were his delight. He loved to open their eyes to the world of art and encourage their imagination and creativity. In 2001, St. Johnn welcomed his first son, Allan III, whom he shared with former spouse, Cara Dwyer. In 2012, he celebrated the arrival of the twins, Lucy & Ben with his current wife Kimberley Beard. In April 2021, the family welcomed the birth of their second daughter, Charley. St. Johnn was a wonderful father, who never stopped planning all the adventures they could have together. St. Johnn traveled to more than 30 countries around the world and he loved exploring different cultures and making friends with all kinds of people. He was a huge lover of music festivals and concerts. From jazz, to country, to hip hop, there wasn’t a genre of music missing from his playlist. He also loved history, politics and current events. Whenever you came over to the house, you knew the television was turned on to MSNBC. In addition to Kim and the kids, St. Johnn is survived by his father & mother, Allan and Helena, several cousins, extended family, and countless friends all over the world who were like family. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses at Mercy Hospital for their tireless care and loving support. Visitation will be Monday, August 16, 2021, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Howell Funeral Homes, 10220 Guilford Road, Jessup, MD. A second visitation before the service will begin at 1:00 PM. The officiant is Kim’s sister, Rev. Kelli Knight. Following the private/streamed service, there is a celebratory repast at 4:00 PM at Bethel Assembly of God, 9001 Vollmerhausen Road, Savage, MD.
