Obituary
Ashmieu Hanif Terena Saccoh was born April 3, 1947 to the late Foday and Mariama Saccoh. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after a long battle with cancer at his home in Washington, DC, surrounded by his loved ones.
The patriarch of the Foday Godfare Saccoh family of 68 Fourah Bay Rd, Freetown Sierra Leone was educated at Saint Edwards Secondary School.
Terena arrived in the United States in the early 1970s to further his education. He attended Jackson State University, where he graduated with honors, receiving double degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. He also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Terena was employed by Sterling Valet Company, where he serviced the White House, the Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Pentagon, and the FBI buildings, holding a top-secret security clearance for over 30 years.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading and analyzing religious books from all denominations. Additionally, he enjoyed reading and analyzing anthropological collections. Which led him to “people watch”, as he called it, while observing the interesting population of his neighborhood in Southeast, Washington, DC.
Before his regular Sunday football routine began, he would visit his daughter and grandchildren in the morning before the games started. He would leave with his weekly meals prepared by his daughter and leave his grandson with a little change.
Terena loved spending time with his daughter and his grandchildren. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Foday and Mariama Saccoh, and two brothers, Mineru and Abass Saccoh. Terena is survived by his only child, Shaterra Jewel Briddell-Mills, son-in-law Jabbar Mills, grandson Raheim Amir Briddell, granddaughter Azan Maia-RaChel Briddell-Mills, the mother of his daughter Sharon Briddell-Fowlis, and fiancé Christine Haley
