Ellen Regina Nicholson Watkins

11/11/1940 - 4/13/2021

“May the work I’ve done, speak for me!”

Genie, as she was known to our community was the third of five daughters born to the late Raymond and Celestine Watts Nicholson. She was a lifelong resident of Queenstown Road and graduated from the Historic Wiley Bates High School in Annapolis. Genie married the late Alexander Watkins and to this union was blessed with two children, Alicia “BB” and Reuben. Genie’s sisters; Phyllis, Erma and Delores preceded her in death.

Never one to seek the limelight, Genie demonstrated a quiet love of family as an exceptional care provider, outstanding cook, lover of children, and all around mentor. She was caregiver to her parents, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Erma’s great-grandchild. Family was her life. She was always there to assist as needed. Like her quiet manner, her faith was personal, but strong. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Hanover.

Genie’s passing has broken our circle of love leaving a void in our pattern of life. However her spirit will live on in our hearts and minds. She leaves a treasured past to her heartbroken family: Alicia (Bill) Trumpler and Reuben; her granddaughters: Tiana (Alfonso) Jones and Nicole “Nikkie” (Thomas Wills) Trumpler; her great grandchildren: Kelaijah, Thomas “TJ”, Kayden, Aniylah and Talicia; her sister: Cynthia Hebron; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The family decided to have an intimate memorial service with only the immediate family. Condolences may be sent in c/o The Trumpler’s, 7679 Quarterfield Road, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
