Obituary

Florence “Flo” Chase, age 91, of Pasadena Maryland, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Flo was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 2, 1935. She lived a life of resilience with a deduction to God, family, and friends.

Flo immigrated to the United States in 1966 and lived in New York until 1975, when she began traveling as a military spouse. That path created an array of work and life experiences and an extended family that spans the world.

Flo settled in Severn, MD in 1985, where she joined Calvary Chapel on Fort Meade. She later joined the First Baptist Church of Guilford in Columbia MD and has been a devoted member for many years, under the pastorate of Reverend Tyrone P. Jones IV.

She retired from Walter Reed Army Hospital as a medical office administrator but continued to work and serve the community in so many ways, the most special being service to her church. With determination, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Sojourner Douglas College in Baltimore, proving that one can achieve one’s goal at any stage of life.

Flo found joy in singing in the church choir, decorating the church with floral arrangements for holidays and special occasions, crafting, cooking to feed others, and time spent with friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Paul Thompson, Michelle Gipson, Sharon Reid, and Twana Chase; nine grandchildren, Ian, Wayne, Nicole, Donavon, Omni, Anesha, Tiffany, LaToya, and Jerrel; fourteen great grandchildren, Jayden, Roman, Chase, Mya, Ava, Zoe, Storie, Isaac, Camren, Jerrel, Lena, Landon, Journi, and Teagan; two siblings, Karl and Peter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
