Obituary

Freddie Aubrey Foreman passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025. Born on July 16, 1945, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Freddie was the beloved son and only child of the late Aubrey and Evelyn Foreman.

A proud native of Portsmouth, Freddie's early years were marked by excellence both in the classroom and on the football field at I.C. Norcom High School, where his speed and athleticism earned him the nickname ‘Flash” that stuck with him for life. He was later honored for his achievements with induction into the I.C. Norcom High School Hall of Fame.

Following graduation, Freddie served his country in the US Marine Corps. After his service, he embarked on a long and successful career with Norfolk and Southern Railway as a Railroad Conductor. Even in retirement, Freddie’s passion for trains never waned as he continued his work as a train operator with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Above all else, Freddie was a devoted father and family man. He raised his son and daughter in Laurel, Maryland. He found immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, always ready with a story, a game, or a heartfelt piece of advice. He was a steady source of love, support, and wisdom, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him.

Freddie's interests reflected his vibrant and jovial spirit. He enjoyed exploring technology, listening to music, attending jazz festivals, and returning to his hometown in Portsmouth to attend Best of Friends gatherings and high school reunions. He loved seafood, Backgammon, card games, and trips to the movies.

Freddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Foreman. He is survived by his loving children; Nykia Mapson (Garick Mapson), Antwane Foreman, cherished grandchildren, cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Freddie’s life was a testament to the power of love, strength, and perseverance. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on July 24, 2025, at Howell Funeral Home in Jessup, MD.
