In Loving Memory of Gloria Patricia Vincent
Gloria Patricia Vincent peacefully departed this life August 1, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Baltimore, MD. The only child of the late Singleton and LaVerta Palmer she was born February 23, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri and educated in St. Louis Public Schools. Gloria graduated from Sumner High School and went on to St. Louis University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
Gloria met and married her husband Alvin (Al) February 11, 1956, and that union produced six children, four of whom survive her.
Gloria worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft as a statistician and St. Louis University in the Finance Department, until the family moved to Markham, Illinois in 1967. They remained in Markham where Gloria worked as a salesclerk at Goldblatt's Department Store and as an elementary school secretary, until the fall of 1979 when the family moved to Columbia, MD.
In Columbia, Gloria worked for the Rouse Company in the Benefits Department until she retired. She and Al spent their vacations traveling as far away as Europe and as close as Atlanta. Always one for a bargain, Gloria absolutely loved to shop. Antique stores and thrift stores were her favorites. Her weekly jaunts always netted a find requiring great strategy, skill, and sometimes a truck to get home! She loved to read and had books covering a variety of subjects.
She was a devoted friend and neighbor, always calling, sending cards, and emails to check on those who knew her. No one was a stranger to her. She would strike up conversations with any and everyone, every place she went.
She shared sage wisdom such as “nothing beats a failure but a try,” and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to dare to be great! While she taught them all many valuable lessons, the most important lesson was to be kind.
She was preceded in death by her husband Al, daughter Christine, and an infant son. She leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her absence her four children Patricia (Edward), Angela, Judith, Alvin Jr. (Christyne); grandchildren Whitney, Jillian (DJ), Dennis Jr., Stephen (Alexandra “Alex”), Myles, Asha, Jesse; and great grandchildren, Brandi, TaMiya, Zorah, Orien, Janai, Devyn and Jace, bonus daughter Lynda Euell-Taylor, sister-in-law Juanita Vincent, special friends Vivian Brown and Sue Neff, a host of other extended family and friends, and her grand-doggy Wally.
In accordance with her wishes there will not be a funeral or memorial. The family encourages you to donate to the charity of your choice in her memory.
