Obituary for Heriberto Valez Perez

Heriberto Velez Perez was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on April 16,

1928, to Florencio and Genoveva Velez Perez. God called Heriberto

home, in his sleep, in the early morning of Friday, July 21, 2023. He was

95 years old.

Heriberto was the most giving and devoted husband, father,

grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son, Robert

Velez. Daughters Daisy Correll and Aileen Velez Cabassa. Grandsons

John Kenneth Vasquez, Mitchelle Kenneth Vazquez, Kyle Kenneth

Vasquez, Jelani Velez, Dejalamar Charle Velez and Jamil Miguel Velez.

Granddaughter Natalia Velez. Great-grandsons Julius Isaiah Vasquez

and Arthur Andres Correll, and his faithful dog, Bella.

Heriberto is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Velez Cabassa and

son Miguel Alberto Velez.

Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U. to serve his country,

which took him out to Panama, Germany and the U.S. He has as a

Bachelor of Science in surveying engineering from the Universidad

Politechnica in P.R.

Heriberto worked and retired from both the Autorided de Carreterasy

Transportation in P.R., and the Department of Transportation in NY.

As a devoted father raised his family in Puerto Rico, New York and

Virginia.

Heriberto was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his

family, that loves him dearly. A man with a simple taste and short of

words, he focused on providing all his family with everything they

needed without worrying about himself. He was kind, generous, and

witty and although he did not say it much, you knew you were loved. He

was honest, humble, smart and oh so resourceful.

Because Heriberto was a selfless man, his passing has left an unfillable

gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide,

support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.

Heriberto knew and loved the lord. He was devoted member of the

catholic church.
