 Obituary

Larry Cornelius Mundell was born on April 26, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Mary Elizabeth and Asbury Mundell.  On July 28, 1979 he was united in marriage to Dale Spencer of Anne Arundel County.  From this union, they welcomed one daughter, who he loving called “big eyes” Maya Mundell.  Anthony Brown, Montrell Brown and the late Timothy Hutton were deeply cherished as sons.

Larry received his education in Howard County and graduated from Harriet Tubman High School and was an accomplished upholstery from his trade school training.  He enjoyed a dedicated career with the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company where he worked until his retirement in 2001.  Not one to sit still, Larry worked for Walmart until 2013 and continued working as a government contractor with Eagle Environmental Services and Cencore from 2017-2023.

Larry’s personality was as “Big” as his “Heart”.  He never met a stranger and loved to strike up conversations wherever he went-be it at the grocery store, the gas station or simply out in the community.  His warm and spirit and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on all who met him.  He loved his family…whenever Larry arrived at any family function, he would head straight for the children.  And was not satisfied until he had them all scattering around, squealing with Glee!

Larry was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church of Elkridge and raised in a loving, God fearing family.  Unbeknownst to any of us that Larry was on his deathbed.  He Declared and Affirmed His Belief in Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior on this bed of affliction and is now Rejoicing in Heaven.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Dale; daughter, Maya Mundell; sons, Anthony Brown, Montrell Brown.  Sisters: Ireland Hawkins, Desiree Collins (Otis), and Debra Reyes (Edwin).  Brothers: Asbury Mundell, Jr., Wayne Mundell Sr., and Lawrence Smith (Anita).  Sisters-in-law:  Frances Williams.  Brother-in-law: Abdul Mummet Sabir Sharif (Garrison, Jr) Talbot Gwynn (Carolyn), Sister-in-laws: Deborah Baskerville, Margo Spencer, Marion Evette Matthews, Robin Spencer and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Larry’s legacy of love, laughter and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
