With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lois Ann Archibald, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 85. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Born on April 30, 1939, in Peoria, IL, Lois grew up with a deep sense of responsibility and care for those around her. She graduated from Manuel High School in Peoria, IL and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics from Illinois State University. She carried these values into her career, where her practical nature and strong work ethic made her a respected colleague and a steady presence in the lives of many. Lois retired from John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, MD.
Above all, she was a pillar of support to her loved ones. Lois was a member of Peoples Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring, MD and eventually St John’s Baptist Church in Columbia, MD. She approached life with quiet determination, always ensuring her family had what they needed to succeed and thrive. Whether through small, thoughtful gestures or steadfast encouragement, she was a source of strength and stability.
Lois is survived by her former spouse Jerry D. Archibald II, her two daughters Stephanne Elaine Archibald and Stacie Diane Archibald, who will forever cherish her wisdom, kindness, and enduring love. Lois was the oldest of 12 siblings and she is survived by her siblings, William Jackson, Shirley Hinton, Judith Jackson, Michael Jackson, Tina Hawkins, Kathy Kyles, Mark Jackson, and Steven Jackson as well as nieces and nephews.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The Homegoing celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at St John’s Baptist Church in Columbia, MD.
