In Loving Memory of

Stephen Alexander Franklyn Peters

November 22, 1944 – July 31, 2026

It is with love and gratitude for a life well lived that we celebrate Stephen Alexander Franklyn Peters, affectionately known as "Franklyn." He was born on November 22, 1944, in Moriah, Tobago, West Indies, to Eldeka Granderson Paul and Stephen Peters. He attended Moravian Church Elementary School and later completed his secondary education, training as a skilled Master Mason in construction.

As a young man, he worked in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, before returning to Tobago, where he reunited with Grace Wallace. Both were members of the Moriah Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where they met, grew in faith, and were married on June 7, 1970. After their marriage, they relocated to St. Croix, where they welcomed their first son, Gregory. In 1972, the family migrated to Brooklyn, New York, where they later welcomed twins, Michael and Marlene.

Franklyn was a skilled bricklayer whose craftsmanship was admired by many. He took great pride in his work, especially his beautiful tile installations, and one of his proudest accomplishments was seeing that craftsmanship displayed along the sidewalks of Fulton Street in Brooklyn, where it remains a lasting testament to his dedication and skill.

A devoted Christian, he faithfully served the Lord throughout his life. At Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church, he served as a deacon, worked in the audio ministry, and shared his love of music as a member of the men's singing group, The Gospel Tones. After retiring and moving to Orlando, Florida, he continued his ministry at North Orlando Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Winter Garden Seventh-day Adventist Church, always willing to serve wherever he was needed. He was known for his generous spirit, warm smile, and servant's heart — loving to sing songs of faith, share the gospel of Christ, and help others. He also found great joy in cooking and baking, and celebrations were never complete without his signature fruit salad and fry-fish. 

Franklyn is survived by his wife, Grace Peters; his three children, Gregory Peters, Michael Peters (Vernita), and Marlene Peters-Lawrence (David); his five beloved grandchildren, Carson, Chandler, Maya, Malcolm, and Malia; along with many relatives and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in God's promise of eternal life and look forward to the blessed hope of seeing him again.
