Stirling Lanier Demby II

A Life of Conviction, Love, Laughter, and Purpose

With profound sadness and hearts filled with love, we announce the passing of Stirling Lanier Demby II, who departed this life on October 29, 2026, at the age of 52. A devoted husband, beloved brother, cherished uncle, loyal friend, and passionate advocate for his community, Stirling lived a life defined by authenticity, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to the people and principles he held dear.

Born on February 20, 1974, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Ethel Nicholson and the late Stirling Lanier Demby I, Stirling grew into a man of strong character, sharp intellect, and deep compassion. He attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and pursued a professional career as an Information Specialist and Political Consultant.

Politics was more than an interest for Stirling; it was a calling. He believed deeply in the power of civic engagement, community organizing, and the responsibility of individuals to help shape a better future. A passionate political activist and dedicated member of the Democratic National Committee, Stirling worked tirelessly to advance the causes and candidates in which he believed. One of his proudest accomplishments was his work on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in Ohio, where he successfully delivered a victory in his assigned district. It was a moment he cherished, reflecting his determination, political insight, and ability to turn conviction into action.

Stirling's commitment to service extended well beyond politics. He was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and a member of the Prince Hall Masons, King Solomon's Lodge. He also served on the boards of various civic organizations. A former Boy Scout, he continued his commitment to mentorship and service through volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his life, he believed in the importance of giving back, standing up for others, and leaving his community better than he found it.

Yet, as accomplished and passionate as Stirling was, those who loved him knew that his greatest gift was simply being himself.

Stirling was, above all, a good man.

He was unapologetically authentic, steadfast in his beliefs, and never afraid to speak his mind. His dry wit, quick humor, and perfectly timed observations could bring laughter to even the most serious conversations. He had a remarkable ability to challenge your thinking while making you smile. He stood firmly for what he believed was right, but beneath his strong convictions was a generous heart and a genuine love for those closest to him.

Stirling embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. An accomplished home chef, he expressed his creativity and love through food, bringing people together around meals prepared with care. He enjoyed photography, hunting, golfing, and podcasting, pursuits that reflected his many interests and appreciation for life. He was also a devoted dog lover, finding companionship and joy in his four-legged friend, Anubis.

And then there was football. Stirling was an unwavering Dallas Cowboys fan, proudly supporting his team through winning seasons, disappointing losses, and everything in between. His loyalty never wavered, even when the Cowboys gave him every reason to reconsider. It was yet another reflection of the man he was: once Stirling believed in something, he was all in.

At the center of Stirling's life was his family. He shared his life and love with his wife, Tamika, and treasured the relationships that connected him to those he held dear. He was a loving brother, a proud uncle, and a valued presence in the lives of his extended family and friends.

Stirling leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Tamika Auguste-Demby; his mother, Ethel Nicholson and her husband Mallory Nicholson; his sisters, Lisa Hernandez and Renee Rollins; his brother, Derek Demby; his nieces, Belica Hernandez, Italia Burkett, Angelica Burchell, Raven Beatty, Tia Demby, Amber Demby, and Mya Auguste; his nephews, Argentino Hernandez and Alex Auguste; and a host of loving extended family members, fraternity brothers, colleagues, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stirling Lanier Demby I.

Stirling's life reminds us that a meaningful legacy is not measured solely by professional accomplishments or public recognition, but by the courage to live authentically, the willingness to stand for one's beliefs, and the love and laughter shared along the way.

He leaves behind a legacy of conviction, service, loyalty, humor, and love. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will continue through the people he inspired, the communities he served, and the countless memories he created.

We will miss his laughter, his unmistakable wit, his passionate political conversations, his delicious meals, and his unwavering loyalty. Most of all, we will miss the extraordinary gift of simply having Stirling in our lives.

A good man. A principled man.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever Stirling.
