Obituary

Suk Ro Lee, 94, of Olney, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 17, 2023, after a short illness. He was the middle son of three boys born on August 31, 1928, in South Korea. He survived living under the Japanese occupation of Korea and serving his native country in the Korean War before he decided to immigrate his immediate family to the United States on April 6, 1973. He paved the way for many other family members and friends to immigrate from Korea to join them in the Washington, DC area.

Mr. Lee was a successful self-made businessman that ran a grocery store and real estate for many years in Washington, DC. He was known for the love of his family, a good meal, devotion to his church community, and was highly intelligent and curious. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle to many family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jae Boon Lee; his children, Myung Rouse, Jae Kil (Yang Ja) Lee, Min Ho (Jong Mi) Lee, and Joung (Jacklynn) Lee; and his grandchildren, Jae (Matt) Corey, Rose (Conor) Rouse, Joseph Lee, Andrew (Janette) Lee, Jack Lee, and James Lee, Chun Yoon Lee; 4 great-grandchildren, including an extensive extended family of cousins, nieces including Soon Se Jhin (who immigrated with the immediate family), nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law who will miss him dearly.

A religious service will be held on May 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Agape (3305 Norbeck Rd, Silver Spring, MD). Flowers can be sent to Howell Funeral Home (10220 Guilford Rd, Jessup, MD). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mr. Lee (할아버지) will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a kind, generous, and loving man who touched the lives of many. His family will continue to celebrate his memory for eternity and carry on his legacy for the coming generations.
